Description
reproduces using 1.1.0.19073
1. clicking LEFT or RIGHT just brings the OSD and does nothing. this is the design and it can confuse the user which is expecting a click to do something and not just raise the OSD.
2. clicking LEFT again, for many mkv's, does not seek and you should click twice to get a proper seek back of 5 seconds.
3. Clicking LEFT or RIGHT few times does not sum the clicks properly and bring you to exact sum of seek.
for example 5 clicks LEFT (not including the one which brings the OSD) performed 20 seconds back instead of 25 seconds.
suggestions:
1. First LEFT or RIGHT click perform the first seek instantly.
2. change the initial seek from 5 seconds to 10 seconds.
2.1 finding the remote consumes few seconds. so first 5 seconds is mostly not enough.
2.2 10 seconds this can gap over the mkv's 5 seconds limitation.
original report:
This is currently being discussed in the comments ofBOXEE-9767 , which was closed as incomplete. rafael suggested that we report this as a new bug, so here 'tis.
As I understand it, when seeking back or forward (in steps), the user is supposed to be able to click LEFT or RIGHT a few times to reach the desired position in the video; the first click is supposed to raise the seek bar (tho really, the first click should seek forward/back in time AND raise the bar) and subsequent clicks are supposed to jump back or forwards by 10 seconds.
This is very definitely not what happens on ANY of my videos when I try to seek back in time. Instead of jumping back 10 seconds from the current location, the second click always jumps back to a point in time that is usually just a few seconds back. If playback manages to resume before I click LEFT again, even if it has only resumed for a fraction of a second, the jump will return me to that exact point in time again. If I wait 1, 2, or 3 seconds before clicking LEFT again, the jump(s) will once again return me to that original point in time. The only way to go back further than that point in time is to rapidly click the LEFT button as if I were playing a shooter game.
