Choppy playback of all my local files in mp4 format (for PS3). All my movies have somewhat choppy playback, not enough bad to be unwatchable, but enough bad that is not enjoyable. I have no such problem playing the movies from the computer or from PS3.

The best way to describe to choppy playback is that is sufficiently unsmooth to enjoy the films; I have no such problem while streaming for Boxee nor does the problem occur when I play movies from the same NAS source from either a PC or PS3.

Below is a copy from mediasource. I have used DVDfab to convert all my movies&shows to mp4 (PS3) format.

I have the same issue. Most files now look choppy, 5-10fps. I had to use my PC to watch them - and I saw no issues. BoxeeBox and PC are connected to the same server, same network, so it is Boxee problem.

Perhaps that is the problem?

Boxee thinks its 1,000 fps every now and then and becomes choppy.

Note: However, this file played back just fine on my BB back in December 2010.

I hoping this bug can be resolved soon. I am still using my PS3 to watch my movies. Now that Boxee Box is receiving more critical acclaim it is urgent time to resolve initial bugs such as this one.

I am going to test this with RC2. I have created a few files with DVDFab and also noticed MP4 playback was very choppy. VLC and PS3 worked fine. Once I test RC2 i'll report back here.

Another piece of info.
I re-encoded the file from source as a MKV then I used mkvtoolnix to extract the files from the mkv then used mp4box to convert to an mp4 (no transcoding, just container) and the files played perfectly on the boxee.

I actually opened a JIRA account here just so i could see if this was being looked to still. Having trouble with a good few of my blu-ray rips. Bought the boxee just to play these as my ps3 cant handle file size over 4gig. Seriously considering selling my boxee cause i really wanna watch my Predator bluray copy and i cant because of that annoying stutter
