Description
I'm using Kubuntu 10.04 desktop and I bumped on an interesting issue.
But first let me tell you something about my PC configuration. I use Boxee (version 0.9.22.13692) to play HD content on my 1280x1024 monitor, as well on my 1080p SAMSUNG TV.
When I switched from the alpha to beta version, I've always felt that on my 4:3 monitor the 720p content didn't look as sharp as it used to on Boxee alpha. So, I took some screenshots comparing picture quality on both versions + mplayer/vlc.
So in the attached zip archive you can see the comparison.
It turns out that Boxee beta resizes 720p content from (1280x720) -> (1280x724) and I think that's what's causing the not-so-sharp impression.
I fiddled with the pixel ratio option, but I couldn't get 720px height, it's either more or less that, but not exactly 720px.
I ran a screen calibration test and tried setting screen size to 4:3, but then all 16:9 videos got stretched to 4:3 on "normal" or "custom" mode, so I went for the default settings.
On the other side videos on my TV look as sharp as they used to on Boxee alpha.

I had also opened a request here:
http://boxee.zendesk.com/requests/23567
but I was advised to open a bug report at http://jira.boxee.tv/.
UPDATE:
I just found out that issue is not isolated to only 4:3 screens. On my HDTV, running on 1080p resolution, Boxee resizes 1920x800px to 1920x825px, wich is incorrect :).
