Description

Would like to request discreet codes\support for use with the Harmony Remotes on the Boxee Box.
Currently users have to use an alternative device to control the Boxee Box which sometimes may or may not work.
These codes also only allow basic functions. If true mappings were available it would allow users to use thier Harmony remotes without having to rely on the Boxee box remote.

1. My main complaint is that the response time is sooo slow it really makes it a pain to use and impossible to fill out a search. There is about a half second delay per key selection.
2. I get double clicks when selecting anything from the main menu
3. You can't power the Boxee on from a complete shutdown (only from sleep mode)
4. I also have a lot of problems with key mappings. I'd like to be able to put the boxee to sleep using the power button but can't get it to work.

did you try using the Harmony Remotes on the Boxee Box and experienced a problem?
I've seen that MCE remote is working with the box.

I believe what's being asked for here is work on the *Logitech* side of things, no? In other words, a Boxee Box entry in Logitech's device database that is fed to all Harmony remotes when they are setup.

The only work that could be done on the Boxee side is support for more discrete IR codes which could be used by any remote.

PJ, it'll work with an infrared remote if you connect a USB i/r dongle from a Windows Media Center remote kit. What people are requesting are better mapped commands and/or a list of Boxee specific codes in the Harmony database. Right now there are issues where commands don't function quite right or conflict with other devices.

since harmony remote is supported, I am hence closing this issue as fixed.
if you experience conflicts with harmony remote on Boxee please open a specific issue.
regards the mapping, Boxee Box source code may be found at the website downloads, so you can take a look at the mappings.

I would absolutely love to see more support for these remotes/adapters. I currently use the Harmony one with a DELL RC6 IR adapter and it has taken hours upon hours trying to get this thing working right. I have basic functionality now but still find myself having to use the original remote quite often. Not only do I get the "double click " problem (scheduled to be fixed with new firmware I know) but I get extremely slow response out of it (even after adjusting the delay settings multiple times).

I really don't want to waste your time so I apologize if my problems are a limitation of the remote/adapter but:

If I could get one thing fixed it would be the key delay. I've had all this elevated to Logitech's tier 2 support who gave up saying "they dont provide support for RF devices" I even had them go into the Logitech console and change options around for me which did not help the key delay.

Hi

I have the same adapter - DELL RC6, but I can't get it to work at all.
I configured my harmony remote with device MCE 1039, and it works ok when connected to PC (controls win7 media center), but when connected to BOXEE I get no response to any key press. The red led in the adapter
blinks for every press, but no response from BOXEE.
I tried also to change to device apple macbook pro, didn't help.
I tried also to select DLINK-BOXEE BOX, but when I try to map the keys I see there are no commands
in the database (empty selection).
any idea ?
