Global subtitles are enabled by default although it is set as unchecked

Restore default settings and restore to the original 0.9 firmware, startup and let it update to the latest firmware (1.0.1.16319 as of today) 2. Login and go to the media menu, note that global subtitles are disabled - don't touch the setting 3. Add some media with at least one subtitle track - let's say media A and media B 4. Play media A [BUG]: note that subtitles are enabled 5. Go back to the global subtitles setting and turn it on and off again (toggle it, effectively doing nothing) 6. Play media B Note that subtitles are disabled (because this media has no previous per-media subtitle enabled state) 7. Play media A [BUG? RFE? Feature?]: Note that subtitles are enabled, since its persisting the per-media enabled state So there is a workaround, but there is definitely a bug in there too.

Rafael Mizrahi [Boxee] added a comment - 23/Dec/10 7:20 AM issue scenario edited. original issue description was: With 1.0.1.16319 a new global subtitles option was introduced (settings -> media -> subtitles). When I leave it alone in its default state of off, or if I toggle it on and then off again, it has no effect on any of my media: all media with subtitles will have subtitles enabled by default. During playback, I can still go in and disable the subtitles for that playback session, but if I start playback in some other media it will not use the global setting. This has made the addition of the global subtitles option useless in my case.

Zinger daZinger added a comment - 03/Feb/11 7:24 PM Also having a problem with subtitles - they won't seem to turn off at all. It's unchecked in global option, also unchecked manually in the media player screen. Rebooting once worked, but didn't the second time.

Aaron J added a comment - 19/Feb/11 12:14 PM @ Zinger I also had the same issue with some external subtitles and and xvid/avi (.idx and .sub) file last night. Disabled manually during playback and subtitles persisted and wouldnt turn off. stopping and resuming video didnt help. In the end I had to delete the subtitle files to make them stop, not very nice.

Warren added a comment - 12/Mar/11 3:32 AM Same as the previous 2 users. AVI with idx/sub files, global setting set to off, when I went to the subtitles setting while playing the movie it was already off... but subtitles were not. Toggling it did nothing. Removed subtitles file and still had subtitles?! is the whole subtitle file cached? Rebooted and no more subtitles... as I removed the file.

d b added a comment - 20/Mar/11 5:41 PM Guys, there is months of history across many different jiras related to the subtitles being on by default. What is going on here? FIX this. Having to turn off subtitles every time a video is played is HORRIBLE user experience.

Here was the situation: - Enable by default unchecked - I play the movie - subtitles appear automatically - I disabled the subtitles during playback, they went away. - I enabled subtitles during playback, they appeared again. - I stopped the movie.
