DTS-MA in MKV causes dropout of audio

DTS-MA has problems too with periodic dropout of the audio or rebuffering.

I have seen DTS-MA problems in the following test movies;

Hellboy 2
Lord of The Rings - The Return of The King
Back to the Future

When I switch to DD 5.1 in the titles that have that track there is no playback problem I've seen.

Dolby True has crashed with the following;

Casino Royale
Sum of All Fears
Disturbia

And I have had a bizarre video problem with Alice in Wonderland (the 2010 one)... where after about 15 minutes or so into playback there is banding and pixelation across the screen.

It's worth noting that ALL of these movies work fine on other streamers, XBMC, etc. So definitely appears to be some issues in Boxee with this which hopefully they can fix quickly.

So, anyone else feel free to test these titles and see how they are working for you if you are playing the HD audio.

There are still DTS-MA drop outs. The second problem was due the bad H264 decoding and had nothing to do with TrueHD. Fixed 16363

I get this on my Blade M2TS version, and I am using the latest firmware so the issue is not resolved for me

problem has not been resolved with SP3 (using the version that was pulled), I am still getting dropouts during random points using a Sherwood n904

I still have dropouts and I updated to sp3. My receiver is Denon avr 789. I have played dtshd ma fine with br player. I can play mkv files fine for about 8-10 minutes and then 1-2 second drop and then the drops seem to happen about every 5 minutes. Regular dts plays fine with no problems

Confirmed that this is still an issue with 1.0.3.17028 please reopen this ticket. I have tried 4 .M2TS movies so far in DTS-MA and the audio still skips for a brief moment at random times (less than a second, its like a hiccup)

Folks - the issue fixed here was specific to MKV. If you are seeing issues in M2TS (for example) then it's likely a separate dropout bug. I am sorry that there are more than one and about the apparent confusion in the comments.

DTS-MA dropouts on MKV still occur in 1.03.17028.

MKV is created using MakeMKV v1.6.3, from a BluRay source. DTS-MA is the only audio track, overall bitrate is around 26MB/s (video), 1.56Kbps (DTS-MA). Not file specific, appears to happen with any file created in this manner.

MKV file is served up on a Windows Home Server (smb) via an all-gigabit wired network.

AV Path: Boxee Box (1.0.3.17028) > HDMI > Denon 891 Receiver > HDMI > Panasonic P50VT25 TV (1080p24)

Audio drops occur every 1 - 6 minutes. They can be "seen" on the receiver as the signal briefly dropping out. Looking at the boxee logs, in dmesg the following message is thrown at the time of the dropped audio:

mm_abd_event: HDMI audio under-run

I have the drop outs using blu-ray iso's made with Dvdfab. ISO is made with movie only, no menu. The drop outs occur with sp2, the pulled sp3 and the current sp3 rc. I have a Pioneer vsx-1020 receiver connected via hdmi.

Folks - i am resolving this issue and will close it out as this was specific to problems with DTS-HD in the MKV format. The problems there are a pretty generic issue with how MKV is processed.

It looks like the new reports people are hitting are m2ts and at least one of these is tied to audio underruns which we will track with BOXEE-7914, as this is a distinct issue

BOXEE-7914 appears to have a restricted permission, I get a "Not Authorized" message when I attempt to view it.
