Tom Pieters added a comment - 25/Jul/10 7:53 AM I noticed that a lot of the albums in the screenshot seem to be compilations, which makes me believe that issue 4811 ( http://jira.boxee.tv/browse/BOXEE-4811 ) might be interfering here. However, I've noticed as well that there are indeed albums where the artwork doesn't show up, and it is very hard to correct these as the reason for not showing up is not clear. darcilicious added a comment - 25/Jul/10 11:12 AM While appreciate the fact that Boxee followed-up on this issue, I feel that more needs to be done, such as requesting additional information that will help you track down this obvious problem. Your brief comment does nothing to encourage anyone to discover the root cause of what is obviously a problem with Boxee when it has been said that two other audio/media applications (iTunes and SageTV) have NO problems with the same group of files with the exact same metadata. I think that Tom Pieters' comment is spot on and would strongly encourage you to follow up with his file. I will zip up and send via gmail to Marcel and dconti a sample album for your use as well. darcilicious added a comment - 25/Jul/10 11:45 AM This is a single mp3 track that has the cover art assigned to it correctly; both itunes and sagetv display it correctly, Boxee does not.

darcilicious added a comment - 25/Jul/10 11:51 AM I have added two screen shots for two other conditions. One is for a single mp3 track and another is for a single/EP CD where the album artist and artist tags are the same for all tracks. I have sent three mp3 files (two of which are from the above screen shots and one of which is from a compilation CD so has a differing album artist tag from the artist tag) to D. Conti and Marcel -- hopefully they will forward those files on and it can be discovered why Boxee doesn't manage to display the cover art correctly while to other media applications do so just fine. If you can think of anything else that will be helpful (including remote access to my computer that has Boxee installed, you wouldn't be the first developers I've "let in") please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Ami Ben-David [Boxee] added a comment - 26/Jul/10 4:01 AM darcilicious sent mp3 samples, tested on Windows Vista and on Windows 7 (0.9.21.12594) Results: only one of the MP3 files was resolved without a thumbnail although the file have a thumb attached to it's ID tag, also got Folder.jpg under the same folder. log file and MP3's are available here: \\srv\tmp\Ami\music

darcilicious added a comment - 19/Aug/10 11:20 PM - edited Well, this might be an interesting observation to share: playing a track from an album without the artwork seems to force Boxee to re-read the mp3 tags and properly display the album art. Steps to reproduce, Select an album that has missing artwork Play a track from that album Click on "Now Playing" The cover art will show up on the music info banner at the top of the screen Go back to one screen (current album info screen) The cover art doesn't show up here Go back to the My Music screen The cover art for that album now shows up. Now select the same album again Cover Art now also shows up on the Album screen This is for version v0.9.21.13641 btw. Haven't tested on the last publicly available version. Doesn't work for various artists albums, however.

darcilicious added a comment - 19/Dec/10 10:35 AM Same issue on Boxee Box v1.0.2.16619 though I have noticed that after playing a track and going back one screen to the current album info screen, the cover art does show up there. Also, this still doesn't work for various / multiple artists albums.

Tom Pieters added a comment - 19/Dec/10 3:23 PM Darcilicious, The fact that missing artwork is occasionally recovered by playing the first track is also mentioned in the issue I've created too long ago ( BOXEE-4925 ) and which isn't solved yet either. (latest public version). On my side, still convinced that Boxee erroneously clears its cache in that case, maybe because all my music files are on a NAS. But you won't be able to recover certain album which it simply refuses to recognize. When possible, it's great to be able to recover by playing the first track, but it's rather cumbersome having to recover large chunks of the library this way ;o) !
