Description

Some artists thumbnails show up like black boxes with just the name of the artist.

users comments:
* have boxee to use album thumbnail or folder.jpg or artist.jpg
* I suggest that if the scrapping algorithm cannot select the right artwork for the artist thumbnail, then you should at least be able to select one of the albums artwork as the artist thumbnail (similar to what iTunes does)

I totally agree.
my daughters have Boxee and use it for heberw music.
all artists thumbnails are empty and Boxee should at least "fall back" and take the album thumbnail.
as, album thumbnail can be set by having a folder.jpg in the album directory.

Makes sense: My music collection is kind of a mix/blend of international music of all kinds, and this problem applies to both regional music (e.g. latin american, portuguese, caribean, etc) and well-know international music.

I'm more in favor of having artwork attached to the music files themselves: All of my MP3's are tagged using FreeDB and the artwork is embedded into the tags. I would prefer any music software to consider that ID3 tag artwork takes precedence over file system images (e.g. "folder.jpeg")

The way I think of this feature is as follows: when you are browsing an album, there should be an option on the left menu that says something like "make this album artwork the default artist artwork/thumbnail", and then another option that says something like "reset artist artwork/thumbnail" if you want to go to the default.

Any insight on how will this be implemented? I would expect that both the ID3 cover art and the "folder.jpg" are inspected for getting the cover art.

Same issue here. I would like the option to browse for an artist pic at source like IMDB allows.

My music collection is on a NAS and streamed to lots of different interfaces, I'm don't want to start renaming artists to satisfy discogs when I have the artist tbn and nfo at source.
