.ts file playback very poor compared to window media center

Description

I have a Hauppauge HD-PVR that records 1080i video in .ts format (via SageTV).
Playback of these files with Boxee is quite poor compared to Windows Media Center 7.

what graphic card do you have?
when movie plays, go to video Settings > Video > Interlaced handling
and see if it helps to change the settings.
please add the video codec info (using gspot or mediainfo) into this issue

No. This is because we don't support interlace DXVA. Ask the user to play
the file witout hardware decoding and give us the results.

Not my area of expertise. I play the file in WMC 7 and it "just works". Let me know step by step how to get what you need from Boxee playback and I will follow up.

Go to settings->videos->player and disable "Enable hardware assistend decoding when possible"

Play the movie and report the results.

This is from v10408, Windows 7, GeForce 8400GS , Boxee "assisted hardware decoding" disabled.

No improvement so far.

I also have this same issue. The files playback fine on VLC/WMP/etc. I tried disabling hardware video decoding but that made it far worse. I also tried all of the interlace settings, but they seemed to have no effect whatsoever. Once I was able to get it to playback properly, but I have never been able to get it to do it again (I didn't do anything special, it just worked).

I have the same issue, interlacing lines very visible during motion scenes.
-Using MacMini running Windows 7 x64, NVidia 320m video chip (with and without inverse telecine enabled in NVidia control panel)
-Tested recording over the air digital TV using HDHomeRun tuner with MCE, GB-PVR and BeyondTV software (so recording MPEG2 transport streams. For MCE I converted .wtv file to ms-dvr to make compatible with Boxee and others).
-No setting I have changed _anywhere_ has made any difference for Boxee, Boxee appears to completely ignore deinterlace settings). Settings tried:
  +Deinterlace in Boxee turned on/off (selected while playing video), set to Auto and also to several of the different available deinterlace methods
  +In Boxee"Enable hardware assisted decoding ON/Off"
  +In Windows, deinterlace on/off in NVidia control panel
-Video plays correctly in VLC, Media center, and others.
  +I notice that if I turn off "Scale" in VLC tools menu that VLC video playback looks just like Boxee with interlace lines.

Reading the other comments, it would appear that video hardware and settings are not the problem. Boxee simply will not deinterlace MPEG2 streams from TV recordings.

I'd be happy to post any kind of log or get any other information I can. I know playback of this kind of video is not the main thrust of Boxee, but this is a pretty serious defect that effectively means switching back and forth between Boxee and another program to watch different kinds of video. .ts transport stream has been around for ages. Please, developers, I am down on my knees begging! :)

Issue closed as obsolete.
We will be releasing a new PC/Mac/Ubuntu in the fall.
Please test with this new version and if this is still occurring please feel free to open a new ticket.
