Description

I have a d-link boxee box and I'm creating an app for connecting to the pogoplug cloud service. I can connect and pull video from the pogoplug, but after a few minutes of playing time it appears that the video buffer has caught up and needs to cache more video. The video is crystal clear and the boxee box is hard wired to my network. Is there any way in my developing the app that I can pause the video before it starts to create enough of a buffer to view the movie without lagging? I know this all depends on connection, but I'm looking at ways that I can pre buffer the movie instead of it going immediately to play.

The key for this development is the ability to have a pogoplug device and have harddrive(s) attached to it with all video, photo's and music on it. The device is a cloud that can be accessed anywhere. I have an app for Boxee that I'm completing that will allow a user to login to their pogoplug account and view their files from Boxee or any files that others may share with them. I have a 2 tb drive attached to my pogoplug and can access my content from anywhere, but having it work with Boxee would really make it great. I'm looking to expand upon this to all other cloud services with future versions. The only problem is, I'd like a way to cache/buffer the video that is played through the pogoplug so that it doesn't lag when watching it. I know that boxee has a download command in the API, but I'm not sure I can easily start the download process from a pogoplug device and save the file to a USB attached drive. Either way, being able to buffer video for this service would really benefit Boxee users and create a new way to access content in Boxee.
