Live TV: Rescanning for same lineup should not reset channel data (or should be an option)

Description

If a user rescans their lineup without changing country/zip and cable vs antenna, the previous scanned channels and custom channel names should not be reset, or at the very least, the user should have the option to reset or keep.

Two Use Cases:

1) Cable or Antenna: Initial scan, user updates channels names, then new channels are added. The only way to get them is to rescan, and lose all previous channel data (names).

2) Antenna: some days are better than others for reception; it would be nice to be able to rescan for more OTA channels without losing customized channel names and without losing previously found signals that might not come in strong enough during this particular scan.

Darci, this is on purpose to allow the users to reset their settings. We will consider it for later versions.

Yes, that's why an option is needed. Too bad this has been put off -- it would make it much more user-friendly.

seems like time warner likes to occasionally move channels around, which requires a rescan. however i have been hesitant to so that because of the time involved with going back through and renaming channels and removing the duplicate/no signal channels
