DTS does not play at all on DVD ISO over HDMI

Richard Elen added a comment - 22/Oct/11 5:29 PM I'm running 1.2.1.20451 and having the same issue, and I did not notice this on previous firmware versions. Well, I think it's the same... When playing ISO files from local USB storage, selecting DTS in the DVD menu produces no audio from an S/PDIF-connected decoder when the audio options are set to output the bitstream to a remote decoder (ie audio settings S/PDIF, DTS-capable). No signal is sent to the decoder and the decoder does not indicate that a DTS stream (or any other stream) is being received. Playing the files back on another player that can replay DTS, eg VLC, DTS audio is demonstrated to be in the file as specified. If I deselect DTS compatibility in the audio settings, the decoder receives an LPCM stream which plays. The most common fault that stops DTS files from playing in my experience is lack of bit-accuracy, but this results in full-bore white noise. That is NOT happening here: simply nothing is being output when DTS is selected and the unit is set for external decode. An allied issue with this firmware version is that audio is not sent either to S/PDIF or HDMI under certain circumstances, but not all. For example, BBC iPlayer does not produce any audio output, but a stereo DVD-derived ISO file does. Output from BBC iPlayer is only enabled when the Box is set to "All outputs"
